Biography

For over 15 years, Christopher Doyle has been working in Sunny Los Angeles, California for Major Movie Studios, Movie Trailer Companies, Television Networks and various Post Production Houses.

After receiving a B.A. in Psychology and Communications from Central Connecticut State University, Christopher moved to Richmond, Virginia where he worked making promotional and educational content for the county of Henrico and surrounding areas.  While he had no “real world” hands-on experience with post production equipment, he quickly learned and was encouraged by his peers to focus on a graduate degree in Communications.

Enrolled in a Masters program at Emerson College in Boston, Massachusetts, Christopher studied the film and television medium, the business side of the entertainment industry, edited film on traditional upright and flatbed machines, and also tackled the “then” new world of non-linear editing.  While enrolled, he opted to study abroad at the Film and Music University in Prague, which gave him valuable film experience in Stop-Motion Animation in his visits to the Barrandov Picture Studios.

With his degree from Emerson stuffed into the backseat of his beloved Subaru XT6, Christopher said goodbye to his family and friends, loaded up his car with soda and peanut butter sandwiches and drove out west to Hollywood, full of hopes and dreams, but empty of funds and contacts.

Once in California, he handed out resumes to various movie studios and post production houses for a solid month (we’re talking about the pre-internet ages here).  With some encouragement and advice from Emerson Alumni, he was steered to a movie trailer house in Beverly Hills.  Upon his arrival, he talked with the secretary for a few minutes and found that she was originally from his home town of New Britain, CT.  She made an introduction to the senior creative executive, and a few weeks later he was hired on as an assistant editor.  Ever since then, he has been making clients excited about their projects and finishing.  Sadly, the Subaru XT6 didn’t have such luck, as the motor blew up several months later on I-405 in rush hour traffic.

Always eager to learn from his peers and share his knowledge with others, working in the industry has taught Christopher a wealth of information, and he has always taken time to help mentor students at Emerson College navigate the pathways of a career in post production.  Other organizations he donates time to are the SOVA Food Pantry, the USO, and helping out at his daughters’ school, because that is just plain fun.

Christopher enjoys his free time with an automobile restoration hobby, doing everything from welding, metal fabrication, upholstery, wiring, and engine work.  He also enjoys vintage cars, Formula Drift and Drifting, mountain biking, travel, and having conversation with friends while sharing a Mexican Coke-Cola.

When not at work, Christopher loves to spend his time with his talented wife and adorable daughter and their freakishly large cat, and when they are both asleep he sometimes sneaks out to the garage to work on the car.
